FALCON
About FALCON First Aid
Ages: 13-17 | Level: FALCONS
Locations: Markham, Richmond Hill & Toronto
Medics Camp’s elite first aid leadership camp, FALCON, is designed for teens aged 13-17 to learn CPR and Red Cross-standard first aid skills. Participants who successfully complete the requirements have the opportunity to receive Red Cross certification at no additional cost. Even without certification, the first aid skills learned have lasting benefits.
FALCON is as much about leadership as it is about first aid. In the leadership portion of the program, teens develop communication skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships. They focus on self-esteem, creativity, collaboration, and showing compassion for others. True leaders help others not just in medical emergencies, but also by identifying needs, finding solutions, and demonstrating teamwork, integrity, motivation, and commitment.
By the end of this one-week program, young people feel empowered and confident in handling medical emergencies and everyday challenges, becoming better leaders at home, in school, and in their communities.
This Camp Covers:
FIRST AID, CPR, *RED CROSS CERTIFICATION, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, MEDICAL EMERGENCIES, CONFIDENCE, TEAMWORK, CAREER EXPLORATION and MORE!
Program Details:
Hands-On First Aid and CPR Training: By teaching teens practical first aid and CPR skills, the FALCON program empowers them to take action in emergency situations, fostering a sense of self-reliance and confidence. Knowing they have the ability to make a difference in critical moments instills a deep-seated belief in their own capabilities.
Leadership Challenges and Scenarios: Throughout the program, teens are placed in leadership roles and presented with scenarios that require them to make decisions, solve problems, and guide their peers. These experiences help them develop independent thinking and decision-making skills, as they learn to navigate and respond to various challenges without relying on others for solutions.
Teamwork and Collaboration: While teamwork is a significant component of the program, teens are also encouraged to identify their unique strengths and contributions. By understanding their individual roles within a team, they build a sense of personal accountability and independence, knowing that their actions have a direct impact on the group's success.
Resourcefulness and Innovation: The program emphasizes finding creative solutions to both medical and non-medical challenges. Teens are encouraged to think outside the box, utilize available resources, and develop innovative approaches to problem-solving. This nurtures their ability to act independently and resourcefully in various situations.
Healthcare Careers:
There are so many more careers available that youth may not be familiar with. If your teens is interested in health and the human body, we'll help introduce them to some very cool healthcare professions! We have also partnered with Future Reach Education to help teens navigate how to reach those career goals.
Graduates of FALCON may be eligible for future volunteer and employment opportunities with Medics Camp once they complete their standard first aid and CPR certification.
There are only 18 spaces in FALCON each week to allow for personalized skills development. Please note there is an online Red Cross educational component that must be completed prior to the teen's first camp day. The access link will be emailed in early June to those registered.
